The circle is an important symbol during the fall holidays. Read about the different circles and their meanings. Find the underlined words in the wordsearch circle.   1. In ancient Israel, Jerusalem was encircled by walls.

  2. On Rosh Hashana we eat round challa to remind us of the cycles of the year.

  3. Apples are also eaten on Rosh Hashana, both because they are newly ripe at this time of year, and because they are round.

  4. On Sukkot, we carry the lulav and etrog around the synagogue in a circular parade called hoshana.

  5. On Simhat Torah we carry the Torah around the synagogue seven times. These circular parades are called hakkafot.
