You'll Need
tube from paper towels, brown paper bag from the supermarket, four paper clips, green craft foam (available at craft stores) photographs, glue,
scissors, clear tape

What To Do

(on a protected work surface)

  1. Tear the paper bag into strips about 1 inch wide.
  2. Spread a thin layer of glue evenly on one strip. Wind it around the tube so that the torn ends overlap. You don’t have to make it very smooth. The wrinkles and torn edges look like tree bark. Repeat this with the other strips until the tube is covered.
  3. Cut four slits, each about 2 inches long, in the bottom of the tube. Bend out the “roots” of your tree so that it can stand. Cut four more slits, each about 4 inches long, in the top of the tube. Bend them out only slightly - they’re the “branches.”
  4. Cut leaf shapes from the craft foam and glue them to the “branches.”
  5. Cut out a piece of craft foam about 5 inches square and glue the “roots” to it .
  6. Tape one paper clip at the end of each “branch.” The tape goes on the inside, so it won’t show.
  7. Display your favorite photos by placing them in the paper clips. A Photo Tree makes a great gift!
